Goddess

Golden Goddess Stamp

In 1935, Costa Rica took the unusual step of issuing a stamp to honor a contemporary novel, Golden Goddess, by Rob Eden, using art from the dust jacket. ‘Rob Eden’ was one of the pseudonyms used by the husband & wife writing team of Robert Ferdinand and Eva Burkhardt. This particular romance involved a New York City stenographer with blonde hair whose employer actually hired her to be a goddess in the jungles of Brazil. Machine guns, airplanes and sacrificial knives were also involved.
